PRIMATE AT SIGGRAPH 2006 -

Venice, CA., July 10, 2006 – At SIGGRAPH 2006, D2 Software, Inc. a subsidiary of Digital Domain, Inc., will unveil new features for its award-winning NUKE™ compositing software planned for release later this year. The company will also give attendees a look at how top VFX companies are handling compositing on major projects through guest presentations and companion product demos in booth #1231 (co-located with Digital Domain), and offer attendees the opportunity to get a hands-on experience with NUKE at the Guerilla Studio. SIGGRAPH attendees will get a preview of some of the new features planned for the next release of NUKE, scheduled for December 2006. The company will unveil new creative and worflow-enhancing capabilities including a new faster, and more accurate tracker that is able to adjust and detect to subtle changes in the values of the tracking source, along with optical flow retiming and a new updated, floating point Primatte keyer.

PRIMATTE RETURNS TO IMAGICA

IMAGICA CORP., Tokyo, Japan, today announced that Primatte®, a world-class high-end chromakey plug-in, available for all major compositing, editing and DI applications, is now back under the IMAGICA banner. Originally developed by IMAGICA, Primatte sales had been managed by Photron Ltd (Tokyo) and Photron U.S.A. (San Diego) for the past 10 years.
Primatte® chromakey software offers powerful, ultra-precision matte-control functions for superb quality image compositing. Primatte® is resolution-independent software, and supports video, HDTV and film images. The basic algorithm utilized in Primatte® was originally presented at the 8th NICOGRAPH Conference and the 23rd Imaging Technology Conference (both in 1992) and a U.S. patent was granted in 1994.
The software version of Primatte® supports Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and IRIX. Plug-in modules are available for various applications such as Autodesk M&E inferno/flame/toxik/combustion, Avid DS/Media Composer/Adrenaline/Xpress Pro, Quantel generationQ, Sony XPRI, Adobe After Effects/Photoshop and many others. The fast-processing version of the Primatte, PrimatteRT/RT+ is provided as the algorithm and available for FOR-A VRP-1, Apple Motion and Vmatte MBC.
Primatte^® features include a unique method of calculating key values, superb color processing on the soft-key portions of the image, clean and precise blue-spill removal functions, and easy set-up and operation.

New features in Primatte for DS 7
Photron introduces a new version of Primatte for AVID DS 7.5. New features in this release include:
- View Modes selector added to the Primatte interface. Change from Matte View to Composite with just a click. All the tools needed to use Primatte are now located in the Primatte interface.
- 3x+ acceleration over previous versions of Primatte for DS using the ‘cache recycle’ functionality. You won’t believe how fast it is now.
- External mask function works in the same way of the other DS filters. Restrict Primatte functionality on user-specified areas of the image.
- New
- Intuitive +/- samplers allow incremental adjustment of spill, transparency and detail. Makes spill removal easier and faster than ever before. You will love this feature.
